Greater New Bedford Vocational Technical Institute’s Mission is to prepare students for the future and develop graduates into tomorrow’s workforce.
The Mission and Goals are organized around three, core values; Preparation, Passion, and Perseverance. Currently, the GNBVTI offers evening programs including Art, Carpentry, Culinary Arts, Foreign Language, Medical, and Welding. In addition, there are several evening continuing education/licensure courses including Construction Supervisors, Electrical, OSHA, Plumbing, and Steam Engineering. Lastly, we are a Ch.74 Post-Secondary program.

New Art Class
Local artist, Temple Mitchell, teaches unique how-to workshops to produce handmade products by incorporating two or more art forms. You can create what you would buy from Etsy! Class descriptions are listed, and each workshop is entirely unique. Classes range from creating wet felted bowls to wood burning to marbling paper and silk. Sign up for this fun class today!
Career Technical Initiative Programs
The Greater New Bedford Workforce Board, Commonwealth Corporation’s Career Technical Initiative (CTI) and GNB Voc-Tech have joined together to provide training in evenings and weekends to unemployed, under-employed and recent high school graduates. Career changes or advancement opportunities in the culinary arts, automotive or marine technology trades.
Holiday Cooking – Easter Dinner
Want to learn to prepare the best Easter Dinner. Join us, as Chef teaches how to make an oven roasted Buddah Ball Ham, bunny rolls, maple glazed carrots, oven roasted brussels sprouts, and a delicious lemon meringue pie.

New Class – Fall 2022
Due to an increasing need in the community, an extra language class was added. Sign Up and Learn Conversational Spanish. This introductory course in the Spanish language will enable the student to speak, as well as understand, common expressions.
Extra Day Added – Easter Culinary Workshop
Due to popular demand, an extra day was added to this workshop. Come on March 23, 2022 and learn how to prepare an Easter dinner that will impress your family and friends!
Job Opportunities in Marine Technology
The Marine Technology Program prepares students to work in both the commercial and recreational marine industries. Course Cost $1,500 per Trimester, but Training Could Be Free if You Qualify!
Program Highlight: Upholstering
Do you appreciate the craftsmanship of a favorite old piece of furniture, but know that it needs some care and a modern style? Do you enjoy working with your hands and feel proud when you design and create a unique final product? Then maybe you have a special interest in upholstering and you should consider taking this elective course in the Spring.
