New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center is pleased to partner with New Bedford Voc-Tech to present seafood cooking classes in 2025! Led by community cooks, these classes are the perfect opportunity to learn how to prepare local-caught seafood and sample some delicious dishes too! he exhibit. This cooking class is a special tie-in with FHC’s newest exhibit, Casting A Wider Net and features traditional seafood dishes from the cultures represented in the exhibit.

Make a Puerto Rican-style seafood with community cook

Make a Vietnamese-style seafood dish with community cook Ngnoc Tran.

March 26, 2025 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm

Make a Cape Verdean-style seafood dish with community cook and cookbook author Colleen Pina-Garron.

Combine your love for food with a passion for knowledge. This course will cover the basic and advanced preparation of appetizers, stocks, sauces, soups, meats, seafood, and poultry. Combined with sanitation and proper knife handling skills, together we will embark upon a tasteful journey full of flavors and techniques. Come and learn new skills you will use in everyday situations.
